I am a music lover. When I'm not listening, music still plays in my head. As I rode my stationary bike recently a Crosby, Stills and Nash tune kept time in my mind to the circling motion of the pedals.
"Our house is a very, very, very fine house, with two cats in the yard ..."
Well, lIfe has never really been hard for me (you'll understand the reference If you know the song). There have been speed bumps, which I have slowly passed over, and I have faith in God that "I will survive" (thanks Gloria Gaynor).
Our house in Honduras is a very, very, very fine house. We don't have a yard, but we do have two cats. Well, they aren't really our cats, but they think they are.
"Tigo" is the main dog (I mean cat). Our children brainwashed him over the holidays and he has become an outdoor fixture. He cries like a baby (which he is) when he is hungry. I think he became our cat when we started feeding him.
He's not allowed inside the house. The reason, according to Lisa, has something to do with not wanting to smell a stinky cat box.
Tigo's" real name, given to him by his real owner, is "Cain." I've always assumed he got that name because he can be a real terror.
He was a rescue kitty by a young woman in the neighborhood who works with Lisa at Mission UpReach. He became "Tigo" upon the edict from my son, Noah, who has a cat named "Tyga" (as in Tiger) -- and the two gatos look alike.
"Tigo" is apparently popular in the neighborhood as he has a black-and-white friend that seems on the border line of claiming a new home. He visits often, especially at dinner time.
"Our cats," however, have little to do with our very, very, very fine house (and when I get a dog it will become even better).
In some ways this blog is a continuation from my last post when I shared some things about our new homeland.
Our house is different than anywhere else we have lived. But it is a very fine house that is more than sufficient..
The house was constructed with concrete. It does not have central air or heating -- just like most homes here. We have ornamental locked fencing enclosing the front porch and carport ... again, just like many homes here.
Our house is fairly new, as many others in our neighborhood are, but unlike the majority of homes in Santa Rosa de Copan.
We have three large bedrooms in the house, each with a full bathroom. We have a separate guest bed-bath in back. Also, an extra half bath and decent-size kitchen, dining and living rooms.
We actually have more square feet than we need on daily basis, but if you visit us understand that our house is your house.
Possibly the best "very fine" features of our home is we pay rent that is about a fourth of our monthly home payment was in Memphis. And, repairs, electricity, water, trash and others expenses here pale in comparison to our past experiences.
God has truly blessed us with "a very, very, very fine house."
Psalm 95: 2-3 -- "Let us come before him with thanksgiving and extol him with music and song. For the LORD is the great God, the great King above all gods."
The last picture is a wandering horse at one of our neighbor's houses. We haven't named him yet!
